Health and well-being coaches partner with clients who are seeking self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values, which promote health and wellness and, thereby, enhance well-being. In the course of their work, coaches display unconditional positive regard for their clients and a belief in their capacity for change. Health Coaches focus on well-being, honoring that each client is an expert on their life, while ensuring that all interactions are respectful and non-judgmental.

The Coaching Psychology Manual, the foundation of our program, is recommended reading for National Board Certified Coaches and is widely used as the text for several coach training programs as well as academic courses, including a Science of Coaching Psychology Course at Harvard University Extension School.

Health and Well-being Coach Certification Pre-requisites
The "Certified Health and Well-being Coach" pathway brings coaching skills in working with patients or clients to improve their health and well-being. As a Coach, you will be an expert facilitator of mindset and behavior change that generates sustainable healthy lifestyles, which prevent or treat disease, and foster well-being and thriving.

Eligibility with ONE of the following:

An Associate Degree (or international equivalent)

4,000 hours of work experience (approximately two full-time years of work experience)
Top off your Coach training with a
Lifestyle Medicine Coach Certificate
As a coach, it is important to have a holistic and broad understanding of healthy living. This is an an additional 21.5 hour e-course, built in collaboration with ACLM, and provides education from leading experts on key healthy lifestyle topics, such as brain health and basic biometrics.

Core Coach Training
(Module 1)
Step 1: After confirming prerequisites, complete the Core Coach Training (Module 1)
Cost: $1785 virtual (9-week, 4-week or 4-day) /$2145 on-site
​To meet the needs and learning preferences of all of our students, we provide two options for training in Module 1: a 9-week class or a 4-day session. All courses provide the same educational content and coaching practice opportunities. Lesson topics include:​

Completion of the Core Coach Training (Module 1) - including 100% attendance, completion of all lesson feedback surveys and a score of 80% or greater on quizzes - is required for course completion and to receive a Certificate of Attendance.
This module is a pre-requisite for the next step, Module 2.
We will provide an attendance certificate once we have confirmed your full attendance and completion of the Knowledge Assessments and Feedback surveys. To maintain our high-quality standards, this is a manual review and may take up to 5 business days following the completion of all components.

Step 2: Deepen knowledge and practice.
For students enrolling in cohorts Jan-Mar 2025 the cost is $185
To further develop your skills, our second Module offers several live classes and e-courses to deepen your understanding of the concepts and skills presented in the Core course, making the completion of Module 1 a pre-requisite to Module 2. Topics such as Organize Your Emotions (2-hr teleclass), Organize Your Mind (4-hr teleclass+e-course), Wellness Visions (2-hr teleclass), and Generative Moments (2-hr teleclass+e-course) will include additional demonstrations and practice opportunities.​​
Completion of Module 2 (including 100% attendance, completion of all lesson feedback surveys and a score of 80% or greater on quizzes) is required for course completion and to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

*Beginning with cohorts in April 2025, the "Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches" course will be required in Module 2 and students may begin the course after completing Module 1. For students enrolling in cohorts Apr 2025 and beyond the cost of Module 2 will be $460.

You must complete Module 1 before proceeding to Module 2. Module 2 is a pre-requisite for the next step, Module 3.

Deepen Your Knowledge, Practice and Assess your Skills
(Modules 2 &3)
Step 3: Receive 1-1 Mentoring and Assess Your Skills
Cost: $845
​To demonstrate your learning, and to pursue Wellcoaches Certification this step is focused on the application of learning.
This includes:

a multiple-choice written exam

three, 1-hour individual mentoring sessions (to be completed before the oral coaching skills assessment)

a 30-minute coaching skills assessment

submission of examples of goal writing and vision statements

Following completion of Module 3 you may use the title "Certified Health & Well-being Coach" and/or "Certified Wellcoach®"

Earn a Lifestyle Medicine Coach Certificate
(Module 4)

Lifestyle Medicine Coaches partner with clients seeking self-directed, lasting changes, aligned with their values, which promote health and wellness and, thereby, enhance well-being. They support clients to engage in the practices of lifestyle medicine, such as healthy diet, regular exercise, good sleep and stress management, in order to become healthier and happier.
​
For students enrolled Jan 2025 - March 2025, this Module is separate and optional. Upon purchase, these students may begin the Lifestyle Medicine Course at any time in Module 1.

Beginning with cohorts in April 2025, the Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches course will be required and included in the price of Module 2 and students may begin the course after completing Module 1.
