Frequently asked questions

Who is this class for?


The "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" for credentialed health professionals who wish to use coaching skills in working with patients or clients to improve their health and wellbeing. As a Health and Wellness Coach, you will be an expert facilitator of mindset and behavior change that generates sustainable healthy lifestyles, which prevent or treat disease, and foster well-being and thriving.

Education that qualifies you to earn the Certified Health and Wellness Coach designation:

OPTION 1: FOR ALLIED HEALTH DEGREES, EXERCISE IS MEDICINE CREDENTIAL®, OR CLINICAL LICENSE

If you have earned any of the following three options:
1. Associate’s degree or higher in an area of Allied Health* OR
2. Any fitness certification (personal trainer, group exercise, etc.) and an ACSM Exercise Is Medicine® Credential OR
3. Current Clinical License such as an RN or Registerd Respiratory Therapist

Then you may apply for our "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" designation, following the completion of Modules 1, 2 and 3.

OPTION 2: FOR NON-ALLIED HEALTH DEGREES AND CERTIFICATIONS
If you have earned any of the following three options:

1. Associate’s Degree or higher that is not listed in Allied Health Degrees* OR
2. Any fitness certification (personal trainer, group exercise, etc.) OR
3. Current health-related certifications or licenses such as: Acupuncture, Certified Dental Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nurses Aide, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Certified Dental Assistant, Licensed Massage Therapist, Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant, LVN/LPN, NREMT, Registered Yoga Therapist

Then you may apply for our "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" designation, following the completion of Modules 1, 2, 3 AND Module 4. If you only complete Modules 1-3, they will earn the “Certified Personal Coach” designation until completing Module 4.

What is your attendance policy?


18-week: To support you in completing Module 1, we offer the live Core Coach Training classes several times each week. You may attend one or all of them. Full participation in all 18 live classes is required for course completion. Additionally, you must complete the required feedback surveys and successfully pass the knowledge assessments to show your learning.

9-week: Full participation in ALL classes is required for course completion. Additionally, you must complete the required feedback surveys and successfully pass the knowledge assessments to show your learning. When registering, please make plans to commit fully to class attendance.

4-day: Full participation in ALL classes is required for course completion. Additionally, you must complete the required feedback surveys and successfully pass the knowledge assessments to show your learning. When registering, please make plans to commit fully to class attendance.




What Continuing Education Credits are offered?


Wellcoaches School of Coaching has built relationships with many providers to help you earn Continuing Education Credits.




How long will it take to become Wellcoaches Certified?


Here is are sample timelines for completing all of the Modules required to become a Certified Wellcoach®. Passing knowledge assessments with 80% or higher and submission of all feedback surveys determines how quickly you transition from one module to the next. It is the student's responsibility to verify full completion of all coursework. Once you receive your certificate of completion, you will be granted access to the next module, that’s why this timeline may vary.

Here is a sample timeline for completing all the Modules required to become a Certified Wellcoach® in the 9-week training option:

February – March: Begin Module 1 and complete the 18 live virtual classes (Two-90 min classes/Week), and e-course and all feedback surveys and knowledge assessments.

  • Keep in mind that is approx. 1-2 hours of course work before each lesson (i.e., reading the manual, listening to coaching demos, and reading articles).

April - May: Complete Module 2 by participating in five-2-hour live virtual classes, two e-courses, and completing feedback surveys and knowledge assessments.

May: Begin Module 3 by completing three, 1-hour mentoring sessions and begin work with practice client(s).

June-July: Complete Module 3 by submitting Wellness Visions and Goals (for you and one client) and passing the written and oral exams.

July: Receive your "Certified Wellcoach®" designation!

Note: If you need to complete Module 4 to earn the "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" designation, add at least one month to this timeline to complete the "Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches" course.

  • Keep in mind that 4-Day/4-Week cohorts require 15-20 hours of pre-course preparation (i.e., reading the manual, listening to coaching demos, and reading articles).

January: Begin Module 1 by attending 4-full days of live virtual classes, an e-course, and with all class feedback surveys and knowledge assessments.


February-March: Complete Module 2 by participating in five-2-hour live virtual classes, two e-courses, and completing feedback surveys and knowledge assessments.


April: Begin Module 3 by completing three, 1-hour mentoring sessions and begin work with practice client(s).


May: Complete Module 3 by submitting Wellness Visions and Goals (for you and one client) and passing the written and oral exams.


June: Receive your "Certified Wellcoach®" designation!

How long will it take to earn the National Board Certified Coach designation?

Passing knowledge assessments with 80% or higher and submission of all feedback surveys determines how quickly you transition from one module to the next. It is the student's responsibility to verify full completion of all coursework. How much time should I plan to spend preparing for class?


First this can certainly depend on your previous education and experience with psychological concepts as well as your reading proficiency.

For our 18- week teleclass training programs, expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours per week. This includes the 90-minute class, reading/preparation for the weekly class, homework, coaching practice and working with your learning partner.

For our 9-week teleclass training programs, expect to spend approximately 4-6 hours per week. This includes the 90-minute class, reading/preparation for the weekly class, homework, coaching practice and working with your learning partner.

For our 4-day classes, prepare to spend approximately 20 hours of preparation time for class and 1-2 hours each evening during the residential training. We strongly recommend that you complete all assigned reading prior to attending. Additionally, we provide suggested practice exercises with learning partners, following the course.
