Wellcoaches is dedicated to advancing the field of coaching in healthcare and wellness on a global scale. Social Mission Our team makes the difference. Wellcoaches is dedicated to advancing the field of coaching in healthcare and well-being on a global scale as a means for personal transformation, first for professionals, and then for their clients. Over the last decade, our team has helped create, lead, and support nonprofit organizations that translate science into coaching practices and support coaching research (Institute of Coaching), deliver national standards and certification for health and wellness coaches (National Board for Health & Wellness Coaching), and deliver lifestyle medicine education (Institute of Lifestyle Medicine). Commitment to Anti-Racism The Wellcoaches team is awake to, and in empathy with, the intense and profound pain of racism. We are listening deeply to the voices, perspectives and wisdom of black leaders and communities. We are mourning the killings of black and brown men and women over centuries. We also understand that the Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities have been terribly impacted by the COVID-19 health crisis and that this is just one symptom of the long history of systemic racism and inequity. Wellcoaches is committed to anti-racism, which is sustained action to help people outgrow racist ideas, actions, and policies. We believe that racial diversity in our hiring practices and in selecting global partners is invaluable. The Wellcoaches team includes Black, Hispanic, and Asian members. And, the Wellcoaches community is diverse, comprised of coaches of every race and from nations around the world. Leveraging that strength, we are collaborating to offer pro bono coaching and coach training that supports BIPOC. We are actively finding paths to support the underserved and underestimated in schools, healthcare, education, and places of worship. Together, we can shift our minds and hearts, one day at a time, to value, recognize, and create cultures of true equality which also fully respect and appreciate the rich contributions of our differences. Cultivate Autonomy with the Coach Approach We connect by employing the key being skills: calm, present, open, accept, humble, warm, grateful. We communicate by employing the key doing skills: mindful listening, open-ended questions, reflections, and inform. Cultivate Motivation Positivity opens the door to seeing clear to motivation. A patient’s motivation is the life force behind behavior change – the underlying “why” that drives decisions. This “why” cannot, and must not, come from the healthcare provider but must be intrinsic and internal. Cultivate Positivity and Strengths The backbone of successful behavior change is efficacy. Efficacy begins with an acknowledgement of the patient’s strengths, skills and capacities. Positive emotions also lead to creative thinking, innovation and a willingness to utilize more resources in support of change. Cultivate Self-Compassion and Relationship The relationship with a healthcare provider can be the most important determinant of a patient’s progress. We build trust through our acknowledgement of a patient as a capable collaborator, for whom we have empathy (not pity) and compassion. Cultivate Confidence and Readiness for Action Mastery experiences, or successful experiments with behaviors, lead to long-term behavior change. Success begets success and through careful planning, with an awareness of readiness, patients can be set up for such success. The Wellcoaches habits system is designed for any coach, team or organization that aspires to a culture of coaching where everyone is growing and thriving together. What is a habit? A habit is the simplest and smallest unit of behavior and mindset that improves your performance and well-being. To be sustained, a habit needs regular practice plus a good dose of both motivation and confidence. Habits become strong and automatic with repetition. What is a keystone habit? A powerful habit which starts a chain reaction that transforms other habits and changes the game. It delivers early wins and unlocks hope in the possibility of change. Keystone habits are so powerful that they not only change us but the culture around us when we engage in them together. Find your keystone habits, 3-4 habits that start a chain reaction and change your game. Inspired by Charles Duhigg, The Power of Habit . How the Course Works My Habits Library The course includes a Habits Library with several collections to choose from. Our collection includes: Behavior Change Communication Connection Leveraging Emotions Cultivating Capacities Burnout Prevention Transformational Leadership The Declipse Technique ™ (preview here) Each habit (70+ habits to choose from) comes with a 5-10 minute video, resources, reminders and tracker.
