I was on so many that we formed a connection. Margaret inspired me when she told me that coaching needed more men as well as more minority coaches. This launched me on a trajectory of study leading to my participation in the Wellcoaches Professional Coaching Program . She also made me feel comfortable with the fact I failed the Board exam the first time. With her encouragement I have since passed both the ICF and Board exam. What I appreciate the most about her is her accessibility. Usually individuals with her schedule and stature are unapproachable. She is just the opposite. I consider Margaret a mentor and most importantly, a friend. Greg Peck
- Organize Your Mind Course Description | Wellcoaches
The key to a less hectic, less stressful life is an organized mind. Learn more about our online Organize Your Mind course. CDR & ACSM CECs available. Organize Your Mind Course Description Overview The Course The Book Resources The Importance of an Organized Mind This online course addresses a widespread and growing epidemic of too-busy, frenzied, distracted and disorganized minds. 58% of adults report being addicted to their smartphones. 70% of employees are not emotionally engaged in their work. Many people overeat, which can impair the brain's working memory or "computer processing" capacity. 400,000 car accidents and 3,000 deaths per year are caused by distracted driving. Most people feel overwhelmed, stressed, or anxious at least some of the time. Prominent surgeons are deeply concerned that the next generation operating room staff is showing an impaired ability to focus, reducing level of skill mastery. Pediatricians are overwhelmed and lack tools to help parents and children with attention deficits. Multitasking, frenzy, and overwhelm are an epidemic for working adults and college students, and poised to hurt human performance in coming years. Organize Your Mind Course Description The key to a less hectic, less stressful life is an organized mind. An organized mind is intentional, deep, agile, diverse, and energized - emotionally and physically. It's productive, creative, and strategic, every day. Our Organize Your Mind® course, building on the bestselling Harvard Health book, Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life, coaches you to coach yourself to an organized mind... 5 strategies based on brain science 5 steps based on coaching science 5 habits based on self-science This online course is self-paced and can be started, stopped, and restarted anytime. Organizations Contact Us to discuss an organizational package to create a culture of organized minds, including team and population assessments. Course Testimonials One of the key element that I learned from this course was about the “Hotspots” for coaching and the Brain States. I really like the idea about having an imaginary dial that goes up and down based on which brain state one is in...learning about strategies to sweep clean my mind - notice, name, accept, experience, appreciate, connect, compassion, curiosity, learning, purpose, change of channel. This strategy will help me prepare for a coaching session by controlling the negative emotions and letting the positive emotions energize the brain. Sometimes at work I come across some very challenging clients this tool will help me organize my mind while talking to the client and also before I move on to talk to the next client. Priya Organize Your Mind Student I learned how to utilize meta awareness more often to sort of step outside my thinking and evaluate situations, especially during times that may be higher stress. I also learned how to actively "turn down" certain areas of my brain to become more aware of utilize certain states during specific circumstances in my life and with clients. I have Meg's voice stuck in my head, which she says "turn down" X state, when I'm envisioning that dial to turn it down. Cami Organize Your Mind Student I appreciate the topic of being intentional. Being intentional in life will assist in goal setting and I believe living life to the fullest. Latoya Organize Your Mind Student I find myself thinking about which part of my brain I am using during many activities and am involved in throughout the day. It is knowledge I have never had before and it puts me more in touch with my overall self. I foresee that I can help my clients understand where they are imbalanced by spending spending too much time in a specific area of their brain versus others. For example, I anticipate most will spend too much time in the "Executive Control" center and not in the more liberating and creative parts of the brain. Tony Organize Your Mind Student My ability to develop a better understanding of my brain states has helped me be a more mindful individual, and schedule activities that promote my wellness vision during times I am most capable. As a coach with a better understanding of brain states, I am more able to understand the perspective of a coachee, and help them lead themselves into more opportunities for 'active mastery' and apply more executive control to their day. Troy Organize Your Mind Student I really enjoyed the section on physical energy classes. I learned more about the importance of exercising and how benefits the brain. I also started consuming more chia seeds because I want to have a healthy brain and I've been trying to take more breaks throughout the day. Nora Organize Your Mind Student

Cultivate Autonomy with the Coach Approach We connect by employing the key being skills: calm, present, open, accept, humble, warm, grateful. We communicate by employing the key doing skills: mindful listening, open-ended questions, reflections, and inform. Cultivate Motivation Positivity opens the door to seeing clear to motivation. A patient’s motivation is the life force behind behavior change – the underlying “why” that drives decisions. This “why” cannot, and must not, come from the healthcare provider but must be intrinsic and internal. Cultivate Positivity and Strengths The backbone of successful behavior change is efficacy. Efficacy begins with an acknowledgement of the patient’s strengths, skills and capacities. Positive emotions also lead to creative thinking, innovation and a willingness to utilize more resources in support of change. Cultivate Self-Compassion and Relationship The relationship with a healthcare provider can be the most important determinant of a patient’s progress. We build trust through our acknowledgement of a patient as a capable collaborator, for whom we have empathy (not pity) and compassion. Cultivate Confidence and Readiness for Action Mastery experiences, or successful experiments with behaviors, lead to long-term behavior change. Success begets success and through careful planning, with an awareness of readiness, patients can be set up for such success. - About the Book: Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life | Wellcoaches
Bestselling Harvard Health book, Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life, empowers you to live a less stressful life using the organizational power of the brain. Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life Overview The Course The Book Resources The Book In Organize Your Mind, Organize Your Life , Harvard psychiatrist and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) expert Paul Hammerness, MD, teams up with Wellcoaches founder and executive coach Margaret Moore, along with John Hanc, writer and New York Times contributor, to share six strategies for “top down” organization to help you get more productive, creative, and strategic. By “top down” organization, we mean applying the latest discoveries in brain science using neuro-imaging or brain scans. We translate amazing new insights, about how the brain was designed to focus, learn, create, and shift with agility among tasks, into practical self-coaching solutions. This book will help you learn to: Tame your emotions Sustain attention Curb your impulses Mold Information Shift from one task to another Connect the Dots Author Bios: Margaret Moore , Paul Hammerness, MD , John Hanc Buy Now Testimonials I was so excited that I bought my 21 year old son, who is a music therapy major in college, a copy. He texted me the next day and revealed that your book and its concepts had given him hope of overcoming the issues he has been dealing with. David Father of a College Student I really enjoyed reading your book! It was the perfect timing to read it because I am currently taking psychology and psychology of music courses right now. It's amazing how much I've learned about the brain this semester and your book has helped me grasp even more about it. While I was reading, it just clicked and I'm now constantly imagining the physiological processes going on inside the brain as I am learning, and the billions of neurons connecting in networks just to form my conscious thoughts. Sometimes I'll imagine my pre-frontal cortex being activated as I try to focus on something, or my temporal lobes activating as I hear things (especially music). I liked how you related the mind to music at one part in the book if I remember correctly. The brain must harmonize it's parts to be at it's full potential. This reminds me of music therapy. Because music itself affects the physiological structure of the brain in the long run, making some parts such as the cerebellum, the corpus callosum, and other areas of the brain larger in musicians than non musicians. I've always wondered how this would affect my cognition and my ability to focus and perceive things. Joshua College Student Your book jumped out at me while I was at a bookstore, and I was immediately drawn to it. I have struggled my entire life with the symptoms you describe in your book. I want share the book with my mother who lives in Dubai and struggles with many of the same problems I do. I'd like to find some way to help because I believe very much in what you do . I'm a writer and a marketing strategist, so if either of these skills can be put to use for your purposes, please let me know. Thank you for your time and consideration! Omar Marketing Strategist I am so excited about the new patterns I am creating. Looking at my home and organization as a challenge and an opportunity to bring about positive change is inspiring and energizing both me and my home! There is a much better flow of energy and ideas with this new system. I think the clutter was a catalyst for depression and overwhelm. Before I often felt I didn't have the energy to deal with the mess. This past week I have felt so much happier and had so much more energy. I had my cleaning ladies come, had my carpets cleaned. My place is at it's very best! I have extended an invitation to some of my friends to come for dinner in mid March. I could not be happier about my new life. I know it's only been a week but I am inspired and dedicated to keeping it this way! What is next? Thank you so much! Karen Operations Assistant LOVE your new book and am especially excited because I already use what I learned as a psychiatric nurse practitioner using cognitive therapy in my work as a coach as I help my clients to get in touch with the emotional thoughts that play out in their times of overwhelm (for example: Is it your mother-in-law that makes you feel crazy or is it the habit she has of interrupting you repeatedly?). I have been keeping track of the research that has been emerging on brain development and the implications for coaching, so you can imagine how excited I was to see your book addressing that topic. I also love the attention this book is getting in the media, perhaps as much as you do, because I am just starting as a certified health and wellness coach here in NC and you so clearly articulate the benefits of coaching. THANK YOU! Rosemary Pychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Certified Health & Wellness Coach I received the book from Amazon over the weekend and finished the book this morning. I thought the book was amazing. I now understand what had been getting in my way of making progress. I did not regularly manage distractions or use agility. What's amazing is that the neuroscience seems to make common sense, yet, somehow I needed to see it in writing in order to really get it. Your suggestions and examples were extremely helpful. Thank you! Anna Professional Health Coach
