Module 1: Frequently Asked Questions
The "Certified Health and Well-being Coach" pathway brings coaching skills in working with patients or clients to improve their health and well-being. As a Coach, you will be an expert facilitator of mindset and behavior change that generates sustainable healthy lifestyles, which prevent or treat disease, and foster well-being and thriving.

An Associate Degree (or higher)
4,000 hours of work experience
Here is a sample timeline for completing all of the Modules required to become a Certified Wellcoach®. Passing knowledge assessments with a score of 80% or higher and submission of all feedback surveys determines how quickly you transition from one module to the next. It is the student's responsibility to verify full completion of all coursework. Once you receive your certificate of completion, you will be granted access to the next module, that’s why this timeline may vary.

Here is a sample timeline for completing all the Modules required to become a Certified Wellcoach® in the 9-week training option:
February – March: Begin Module 1 and complete the 18 live virtual classes (2-hours each) an e-course and all feedback surveys and knowledge assessments.
Keep in mind there is approx. 1-2 hours of course work before each lesson (i.e., reading the manual, listening to coaching demos, and reading articles).
April - June: Complete Module 2 by participating in nine live virtual classes (2-hours each), two e-courses, and completing feedback surveys and knowledge assessments.
July: Begin Module 3 by completing three 1-hour mentoring sessions and begin work with practice client(s).
July-August: Complete Module 3 by submitting Wellness Visions and Goals (for you and one client) and passing the written and oral exams.
September: Receive your "Certified Wellcoach®" designation!

July-August: Complete Module 3 by submitting Wellness Visions and Goals (for you and one client) and passing the written and oral exams. You may begin to accumulate practice client hours for the National Boardd AFTER you pass the Practical Skills Assessment in Module 3.
September: Receive your "Certified Wellcoach®" designation!
Apply to take the National exam, through the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, after all three modules and you have practiced with your own clients for 50 coaching sessions. You may begin to accumulate those hours AFTER you pass the Practical Skills Assessment in Module 3.
First this can certainly depend on your previous education and experience with psychological concepts as well as your reading proficiency.
For our 9-week teleclass training programs, expect to spend approximately 4-6 hours per week. This includes the 2-hour class, reading/preparation for the weekly class, homework, coaching practice and working with your learning partner.
For our 5-week/5-day classes, prepare to spend approximately 15-20 hours of preparation time before your first class and 1-2 hours each evening during the residential/virtual training. We strongly recommend that you complete all assigned reading prior to attending. Additionally, we provide suggested practice exercises with learning partners, following the course.
