Our Core Coach Training program is widely respected as the gold standard. Our industry-first programs gave birth to a new professional, the Certified Health and Wellness Coach.  The core training curriculum is also open to those who do not intend to become a Health and Wellness Coach but wish to learn the skills and behaviors to apply in other settings as Personal Coach. Our core training and certification programs, endorsed by our strategic partners, the American College of Sports Medicine and the American College of Lifestyle Medicine, are designed for professionals with expertise such as: weight, nutrition, fitness, stress or mind/body medicine, lifestyle medicine, chronic disease, and mental health.

The first step in becoming a Certified Wellcoach®

 

Our classes provide you with the essential theories of coaching science and application of skills coaching, based on our Coaching Psychology Manual (required text). In addition, you will receive our 10-hour coaching habits e-course.

 

Completion of these two courses, including ALL live classes, will be required to receive a Certificate of Attendance.

This module is also a prerequisite for Module 2.

Who is this class for?


The "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" for credentialed health professionals who wish to use coaching skills in working with patients or clients to improve their health and wellbeing. As a Health and Wellness Coach, you will be an expert facilitator of mindset and behavior change that generates sustainable healthy lifestyles, which prevent or treat disease, and foster well-being and thriving. Education that qualifies you to earn the Certified Health and Wellness Coach designation: OPTION 1: FOR ALLIED HEALTH DEGREES, EXERCISE IS MEDICINE CREDENTIAL®, OR CLINICAL LICENSE If you have earned any of the following three options:
1. Associate’s degree or higher in an area of Allied Health* OR
2. Any fitness certification (personal trainer, group exercise, etc.) and an ACSM Exercise Is Medicine® Credential OR
3. Current Clinical License such as an RN or RRT Then you may apply for our "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" designation, following the completion of Modules 1, 2 and 3. OPTION 2: FOR NON-ALLIED HEALTH DEGREES AND CERTIFICATIONS
If you have earned any of the following three options: 1. Associate’s Degree or higher that is not listed in Allied Health Degrees* OR
2. Any fitness certification (personal trainer, group exercise, etc.) OR
3. Current health-related certifications or licenses such as: Acupuncture, Certified Dental Assistant, Certified Medical Assistant/Certified Nurses Aide, Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant, Certified Pharmacy Technician, Certified Dental Assistant, Licensed Massage Therapist, Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant, LVN/LPN, NREMT, Registered Yoga Therapist Then you may apply for our "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" designation, following the completion of Modules 1, 2, 3 AND Module 4. What is your attendance policy?


To support you in completing Module 1, we offer the live Core Coach Training classes three times each week. Full participation in ALL classes is required for course completion. Additionally, you must complete the required feedback surveys and successfully pass the knowledge assessments to show your learning.




What Continuing Education Credits are offered?


Wellcoaches School of Coaching has built relationships with many providers to help you earn Continuing Education Credits.




How long will it take to become Wellcoaches Certified?


Here is a sample timeline for completing all of the Modules required to become a Certified Wellcoach®: January: Begin Module 1 and complete the teleclasses, feedback surveys and knowledge assessments February-March: Complete Module 2 by participating in all five teleclasses, two e-courses, and completing feedback surveys and knowledge assessments April: Begin Module 3 and complete three, 1-hour mentoring sessions and begin working with practice clients May: Complete Module 3 by submitting Wellness Visions and Goals (for you and one client), and passing the written and oral exams June: Receive your "Certified Wellcoach®" designation! Note: If you need to complete Module 4 to earn the "Certified Health and Wellness Coach" designation, add at least one month to this timeline in order to comlete the "Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches" course.




How long will it take to be a National Board Certified - Health and Wellness Coach?


Here is a sample timeline for completing all of the Modules required to become a National Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach: January - April: Begin Module 1 and complete the 18-week teleclasses, feedback surveys and knowledge assesments May - June: Complete Module 2 by participating in all five teleclasses, two e-courses, and completeing feedback surveys and knowledge assessments July: Begin Module 3 and complete three, 1-hour mentoring sessions and begin working with practice clients August: Complete Module 3 by submitting Wellness Visions and Goals (for you and one client), and passing the written and oral exams September: Receive your "Certified Wellcoach®" designation! October: Complete Module 4, "Lifestyle Medicine for Coaches", assessments and feedback surveys. Receive your "Lifestyle Medicine Coach" certificate. Apply to take the National exam through National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching, offered twice each year.




How much time should I spend preparing for class?


For our 18- week teleclass training programs, expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours per week. This includes the 90-minute class, reading/preparation for the weekly class, homework, coaching practice and working with your learning partner. For our 9-week teleclass training programs, expect to spend approximately 4-6 hours per week. This includes the 90-minute class, reading/preparation for the weekly class, homework, coaching practice and working with your learning partner. For our 4-day residential sessions, prepare to spend approximately 20 hours of preparation time for class and 1-2 hours each evening during the residential training. We strongly recommend that you complete all assigned reading prior to attending. Additionally, we provide suggested practice exercises with learning partners, following the course.




What is your refund policy?


Although we hope that you will not need to request a refund, we understand that you may find it necessary to cancel a registration or withdraw from a training program. The request forms can be found on your trainee web pages at CustomerHub.

For the teleclass program:
If you request to withdraw prior to Lesson 1, you are responsible for paying 5% of the full program fee. If you request to withdraw prior to Lesson 4, you are responsible for paying 30% of the full program fee. If you request to withdraw prior to Lesson 7, you are responsible for paying 55% of the full program fee. If you request to withdraw prior to Lesson 10, you are responsible for 80% of the full program fee. No refund will be provided after Lesson 11.
The above fees are assessed for payments whether they have been made in full or set up on a payment plan. The refund fee is calculated based upon the total program fee (or re-enrollment fee if you are taking the course for a second time). For the 4-day, residential program:
If you request to withdraw no more than 14 days prior to the program start, you are responsible for paying 5% of the full program fee. No refunds will be given within 13 days of the program start. The request forms can be found on your trainee web pages at CustomerHub.
